[2024] Tournament of Champions Octos - Harker KB vs Peninsula AB

May 5, 20241.6k

For all intents and purposes, this was Alex's last debate round. It was a good round, he did a good job. He did better than anyone (other than maybe our team) thought he ever would, especially as a one-time senior TOC qualifier. There's a reason Adam Torson started his RFD talking about what a good guy Alex is. Debate won't be the same without him, but he's certainly inspired both me and plenty of other people to be better debaters and better people. Other than the whole not answering the advantage the deficit was about or the deficit, this is a good example of a LD DA/Case round on both sides from generational GOATs. JUDGE: Von, Adam Torson and Jacob Nails DECISION: AFF (2-1, Von sits) 1AC was Turkiye 1NC was the Turkey Prolif DA, Kurecik PIC, T-Military Presence and T-WANA 2NR was the Kurecik PIC

Judges

What else could the 1AC have done? Claude drafts 3 alternative responses and predicts how a flow judge would vote after each, next to the speech as it was given.

  • Flow judge: A technical, experienced circuit judge who votes on the flow: dropped arguments are true, extensions need warrants, and weighing decides close rounds.

Simulated responses and ballots are Claude's predictions from a rough transcript, not real results. Each run is a new AI request.
