On-Page Card Reuse Search

Checks whether a page has already been cut into a card — by your team or anywhere in the imported caselist card library — before you spend time cutting a duplicate, and tells you what the existing cards say and how good they are.

  • Route: /research/cards/library (the "Check this page" box)
  • Package: debate-research-evidence
  • Extension: apps/debate-browser-ext (toolbar popup, article panel)

What it does

Open the extension's popup on any article and it checks the page's URL against the shared reuse index: cards your team registered, plus every card in the imported caselist library whose citation names that URL. It answers "already cut" or "safe to cut".

For each card cut from the page, the popup shows:

  • the card's tag, author and year, the caselist it came from, and how many times it was read across caselists;
  • its highlighted quotes — the text debaters actually read aloud;
  • an AI annotation: an author-quality rating (strong, adequate, weak, or unknown), the author's qualifications and any bias or conflict of interest, a 0–10 score for how well the highlighting supports the tag, and the flaws an opponent would attack, ranked by severity.

The first few cards are annotated automatically when you are signed in; the rest have a Find flaws & rate author button. Each card is annotated once and then shared with everyone, so a popular page loads instantly.

The /research/cards/library box runs the same check on any URL you paste. The Browser extension tab of the app's Settings (on the extension's Options page) configures the API base URL and a skip-check domain whitelist; a "Team reuse dashboard" on /research/cards/library shows which pages get checked and how often they were already cut.

Known gaps

The extension is unpacked/"Load unpacked" only — no store listing exists. Cards whose citation has no URL cannot be matched to a page.
