Judge paradigms

Click any judge in a tournament's pairings (/tournaments/…/rounds) to see how they judge before the round starts.

What the judge dialog shows

  • Paradigm: the judge's paradigm from Tabroom, with when they last reviewed it and any Tabroom certifications. If the judge has written and verified a paradigm on this site, that one is shown instead.
  • Voting record: every published round they judged on Tabroom — tournament, date, event, round, both teams, their vote and the panel's result — with a summary on top: rounds judged, Aff/Pro versus Neg/Con votes, and squirrels (panel rounds where they were the lone dissent).
  • Tabroom page opens their paradigm on tabroom.com.

Judges are kept for a week, so a judge opened recently loads instantly. An older copy is refreshed from Tabroom when you open it; if Tabroom can't be reached, the last copy is shown and marked Cached copy.

Write your own paradigm

Judges can write their paradigm here at /practice/paradigm (also linked from every judge dialog as "Are you …? Edit your paradigm"):

  1. Write it in the editor — bold, italics, headings, lists, quotes and links from the toolbar, with a Preview tab.
  2. Paste your Tabroom paradigm link (or judge id) and Save paradigm.
  3. To prove the Tabroom judge is you, copy the code shown, add it anywhere in your paradigm on Tabroom, save it there, and click Verify. You can remove the code afterwards. An admin can also verify you.

Until you're verified, debaters keep seeing your Tabroom paradigm, so nobody can publish a paradigm under someone else's name. Linking a different Tabroom judge resets the verification.

For admins

The Imports tab of /admin has a Judge paradigms card. Discover & sync all paradigms walks Tabroom's list of every judge with a current paradigm and saves each one's paradigm and record; Refresh stale re-fetches judges older than a week. Runs resume where they stopped. The same card lists accounts claiming a Tabroom judge, to verify or revoke.

Tabroom only shows paradigms to a signed-in account, so the site reads them as one: set the TABROOM_SESSION_TOKEN secret to the TabroomToken cookie of the site's Tabroom account. Without it the card says so, and only judges already synced can be shown.
